Geeky Writing
Things that your average internet browser probably wouldn't get. For all of the geeks, hopefully you find something to enjoy.
The Riddle Stories
Kita Riddle was a character I created for a Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 campaign, a lawful evil and sociopathic Scout with little regard for anything other than herself. I had no idea she was going to stick to me like a burr, undergoing a complete character arc -- and then some. You can find some of the more random stories under her
tag on my writing Livejournal. As a warning to the kiddies, there's quite a bit of violence and swearing.
Heal Thyself
Fantasy / Science Fiction
Parts: 9
Page Count: 115
Word Count: 46,138
Some months after her original campaign ended, I decided to use Kita for a dimension-and-world hopping campaign. And when a second campaign, in the same exact vein, started up after that one ended, I used her again. This time, I wrote the "Heal Thyself" arc to explain what she'd been up to in between campaigns. I hadn't intended to write 115 pages, though, which describes, among other things, how the sociopath accidentally "fixed" her brain and gained a "soul."
Future Storm
Fantasy / Science Fiction
Parts: 01, 02, 03
Word Count: 12,106
Approximately five hundred years after the end of the Needle 2.0 campaign, Quinn Riddle and her companion-and-boyfriend, Ted, have gone their separate ways after a vicious argument. Quinn stumbles on. Emphasis on the stumbling.
Consultation
Fantasy / Science Fiction
Parts: 01, 02, 03, 04
Word Count: (ongoing)
Shapeshifters, hackers, information brokers, and one lost kid on the wrong damn road. (Takes place sort of during Future Storm.)
The Crooked 'Verse
An alternate universe Kita Riddle, who grew up even worse and never had that meaningful character arc. I wrote these stories to flesh out my running of a D&D session where the "prime" Kita (now called Quinn) meets her alternate self -- and her alternate self's traveling companions. For the more random stories, see the
tag. The stories linked here are listed in the order written.
A Crooked Thought
Fantasy / Science Fiction
Word Count: 3,126
Some Multiverse travelers are like tourists -- they like to sample the new cultures, see new sights, learn new things. But some embark on the simple idea of causing havoc and gaining glory and power. This is a story about the latter type of travelers, a particularly nasty band.
Cosmic Treadway
Fantasy / Science Fiction
Parts: 3
Word Count: 11,370
The Multiverse travelers grow weary of their effortless conquest, as strain appears within their ranks.
