Soaked of a comic splendor - posted @ 2:05AM - July 29, 2010
As I'm sure most of you know who ever read this website, Comic Con 2010 wrapped up recently. I was originally going to attend, but had to step out due to technical problems - which made me a very sad panda indeed. However, slightly making up for it is the fact that everyone is now rampantly posting their footage from the panels there. And, wow. There were some good ones this year. Being a colossal geek, I thought I'd link some of my favorite ones. And yes, they're mostly movie and television related: Thor, Captain America, Family Guy, Danny Elfman, The Avengers, and The Expendables. Fingers crossed on my being able to attend next year.

At least my not being able to sleep well is getting things done. Right? Right. The first chapter, of the first draft, of my newest novel project is up and posted. You can find it under Writing. Or, if you're feeling lazy (and who isn't, this is the internet), you can just click here. I'm happier with it than I was with the last draft, so hey. We're at least getting somewhere.

Jeez, where did the time go? How is it more than a month since the last time I updated? I'm so awful about that. Anyway, school is pretty much done for this semester, so I've been enjoying the free time to just sit around and... stew. Because it's rather steamy. I know I live in a desert, but does it need to announce that so much? Honestly. No manners.

I'm a weak soul, and I'm back in the crack that is the Fanlistings. (If you don't know what that is, save your soul. Don't click the link.) It's addicting. So, to that end, I have a page for that kind of thing. And I'm kind of collecting them as I go, yet again. When I made the layout transition, I didn't intend to go back. But I'm weak, as I've said, and they're back.

I've been supremely uninspired, lately, which hasn't helped... well, much of anything. I was hoping that my writer's block would vanish in this month, and that I'd be back to writing 24/7. That hasn't happened yet - but I do hope it will soon. As for more productive news... I don't really have any. That game is still in the works, I've been playing World of Warcraft, school is a thorn in my side, and the weather out here in California is schizophrenic.

Last month kicked my ass. Literally. I won't go into too many details, but a lot of negative things happened. I'm trying not to let it phase me, though, and work forward through it all. I have a new project, and one that I'm pretty excited about. It's a game - a text based puzzle game. It takes place in one of my novel 'verses. If all goes well, it should be pretty fun, and tell an interesting story as well. We shall see.

I'm not having the best day in the world, but thought I'd update anyway. Last night I got a plot bunny in my head, and it fed me an alternative version of "Check, Please," which I wrote - surprising myself - in one fell swoop. It's in the writing section now, under Tell Me More. I hope it's at least interesting to read; it was fun to write.

Tonight I watched Shop Girl, the Steve Martin movie, with my family. I'm not posting a review, because I couldn't even begin to write that, but I loved it. There weren't jokes every five seconds to keep the ADHD crowd happy, so I know why it didn't do amazingly well, but I loved the slow-paced story, the beautiful cinematography, and the stoic peace of the main character. It was, for me, like walking through a picture gallery, or reading a collection of short stories. Honest, poetic, but simple. So, yes, I really liked it - and highly recommend it, if you haven't seen it.

Speaking of simple and poetic, I was linked to this video of two baby moose playing in a sprinkler, and it made my day easily. I wish moose could frolic in my backyard, too. But the neighborhood cats alone could probably scare them off, and then there's the cement walls to consider...

I've added some flash fiction the writing page! "Check, Please."

All of the writing is now standardized to the rest of the layout! I removed the navigation on those pages so that it doesn't detract from the reading experience. Just click the "home" button to get back to the main writing page. Hopefully I'll be adding some new writing, too. That'd be nice.

I've added a review for The Wolfman as a start.

...everything moves into place. I only have a few more pages to restore, my writing, and then I get to make two new pages for artwork. Fancy, eh? As you can tell from the time of my updates, I'm a night owl. I hope tonight is more productive than it already has been - I want to sleep at some point!

By the way, if you like inspirational stories, it doesn't get any more epic than this.

The new layout is here. It was some work getting it in, so if you say it doesn't look like it, I might cry. (I won't really, but don't tempt fate.) I hope it's easy to navigate. It's certainly easier to update. Take a look around and hopefully your limbs won't get gnawed off!
Before I forget, my foragings on the internet today came up with this delightful short film, and if you own pets and/or love animals, enjoyment is guaranteed.

Jeez. One second, it's the end of a semester, and then in the next, it's two-three months later and you're wondering where your vacation went. My nonexistent updates wouldn't have been interesting, anyway, so you didn't miss much. I'm updating now to report that a full-scale remodel of the website will be occuring in the next couple of months. This was designed at the end of my first, formal web design class, and it's pretty good for what it is, but I know a lot of neater tricks now. I'm interested to see what I could do differently - or more efficiently. So, yes. That should be coming. Also, there will be new writing! How exciting.

Finals at my college have been eating my face - literally, as I've been sick for six days and my nose is not happy. So things have been progressing very slowly. My deviantART account, reachable to the left, remains mostly updated from all of that stuff. I'm contemplating putting a resume section onto my website - would be very forward-thinking of me - which means, for the first time in years, my artwork would be once again on VD.Net. But this isn't set in stone. I need to be out of school so I'll actually have the time to brainstorm that out. In the meantime - Happy Holidays, whatever it is that you celebrate!
